Ford F-150 Vs. The Competition

Ford F-150 vs. the Competition

The Ford F-150 has been the most popular truck in America for an unprecedented 47 years in a row, so truck buyers have already voted on which truck beats all the others. But we understand you might be considering some of the other very capable pickups that are out there. So here's a look at the new Ford F-150 and how it compares with the Chevy Silverado 1500, the GMC Sierra 1500 and the Ram 1500. We think you'll see why the Ford F-150 is well worth buying at Hammonasset Ford in Madison, CT.

The Ford F-150 vs. the Chevy Silverado 1500

The Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado 1500 are the two best-selling full-size pickups in America but the F-150 keeps coming out on top. One reason is that the F-150 gives you such a big range of powerful engines that include a V8 plus a twin-turbo V6, both with 400 horsepower. At the top of the menu, the F-150's 5.2-liter supercharged V8 is good for an incredible 700 horsepower. The Chevy Silverado also offers a variety of engines but comes up short with only 420 maximum horsepower with its top-tier 6.2-liter V8.

Another factor for many Branford, CT buyers is the fact that the F-150 is faster, hitting 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, pulling slightly ahead of the Silverado at 5.4 seconds. But the number that matters most to many truck buyers is towing capacity and that's a big strength for the F-150. With the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, the Ford F-150 provides 13,500 pounds of maximum towing. The maximum towing number in the Chevy Silverado is just 13,300 pounds.

The Ford F-150 vs. the Ram 1500

The Ford F-150 often comes up against the Ram 1500 at dealer showrooms. The Ram 1500 is a very good truck but the Ford F-150 offers more of the capability drivers want. For example, the new Ford F-150 gives you 235 horsepower per ton with its available supercharged engine compared with only 218 horsepower per ton with the Ram 1500. While the Ford F-150 offers Westbrook, CT up to 700 horsepower, the Ram 1500 has a maximum of only 395 horsepower with its V8 engine. And unfortunately, that engine has been replaced with two even less powerful V6 engines for 2025.

In addition, the Ford F-150 can travel more miles between fill-ups than the Ram 1500. The F-150 has an estimated full tank range of 828 miles vs. only 726 miles in the Ram 1500. Another reason for the F-150's higher level of popularity is the previously mentioned ability to tow up to 13,500 pounds. The most you can get with the Ram 1500 is 12,750 pounds for 2024 models and only 11,580 pounds for 2025. Finally, the Ford F-150 gives Old Saybrook, CT drivers 2,455 pounds of payload capacity vs. only 2,320 pounds for the Ram 1500.

The Ford F-150 vs. the GMC Sierra 1500

As described earlier, the new Ford F-150 offers up to 700 horsepower with the 5.2-liter supercharged V8, and that far surpasses the best the GMC Sierra 1500 can do with only 420 horsepower. The F-150 pulls even farther ahead when it comes to gas tank driving range. The F-150 can travel up to 828 miles between fill-ups while the GMC Sierra can take you only 600 miles on a full tank. Last but not least, the Ford F-150 can tow up to 13,500 pounds while the GMC Sierra comes in at only 13,200 pounds.
