New Ford Explorer Inventory

2023 Ford Explorer - Hammonasset Ford

The Ford Explorer enters in as a spacious, dynamic, and distinctly tech-savvy three-row SUV. If you're in the market for a well-rounded SUV that's capable of taking on much more than endless highways, then you can look to the 2023 Ford Explorer with confidence. The latest model year of the Ford Explorer offers up a handful of minor changes but is mostly a carryover from the previous year. The Ford Explorer is available in eight trim levels: Base, XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, Limited, ST, King Ranch, and Platinum. Regardless of the trim selected, you can look forward to a modernly versatile three-row SUV.

Performance

The Ford Explorer makes a variety of engines available across its trim lineup. The base engine that comes with the Ford Explorer is a 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Not too shabby for an entry-level engine. Additional power can be had by stepping to a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine that makes 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The Ford Explorer offers up an optional hybrid powertrain, too. This hybrid engine is a 3.3-liter V6 that makes 318 horsepower. All engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard with many trims while all-wheel drive is optional, except with a handful of trim levels, which makes it standard. The Timberline is an off-road version of the Ford Explorer that comes with a host of performance upgrades. The Timberline includes an off-road suspension, increased ground clearance, underbody skid plates, front tow hooks, all-wheel drive, and limited slip differential.

Technology

Tech features are quite substantial, with the base trim offering up all the modern tech features you'd expect. The Base trim comes with an 8-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, and a 6-speaker audio system. The XLT trim doesn't make any tech features but it does allow for additions via the XLT Technology package. The XLT Technology package includes a 12-speaker premium sound system and a surround-view camera system. The ST-Line trim comes with a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, wireless smartphone charging, a navigation system, and a surround-view camera system. The ST trim adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. The Platinum trim makes a Technology package available which adds a 10.1-inch touchscreen display and a 14-speaker premium sound system.

Interior Features

The Ford Explorer can be outfitted with a wide variety of comfort features. Standard interior features include cloth seats, a power adjustable driver's seat, tri-zone automatic climate control, and 50/50 split/folding third row seats. The XLT trim adds upgraded interior trim, heated front seats, second-row captain's chairs, and push-button start. The ST-Line trim adds faux leather/suede upholstery along with ambient interior lighting, and ST-Line badging. The Timberline adds heated second-row seats, faux leather upholstery with cloth inserts. The Limited trim is quite lavishly equipped, adding leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and ambient interior lighting. The ST trim adds leather upholstery with simulated suede inserts and sport-bolstered front seats. The King Ranch features an especially well-equipped interior that's rather leather forward. The King Ranch comes with unique leather upholstery, leather-wrapped interior panels, wood interior trim, second-row captain's chairs, and memory settings for the driver's seat. The top-level Platinum trim gains exclusive wood interior trim and diamond pattern leather upholstery.
